A talk organised by CAMI in relation to the Law Society’s Pro Bono Services Office and the Mental Capacity Act was held on 21 September 2013 at Simei Care Centre Auditorium.

Ms Shahrany Hassan, Director of Development, at the Pro Bono Services Office gave an overview of the various free legal services that are available to members of the public who are in need. Their services range from the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme to Legal Advice conducted at various locations. Access to their service is by prior appointment and they can be contacted at 6536-0650

Mr Edmund Kronenburg, Managing Partner at BraddellBrothers, an eminent local law practice founded in 1883, took participants through the extensive Mental Capacity Act through a caregiver’s perspective which cut through much of the legalese in the Act. Mr Kronenburg can be contacted at 6499-9490

CAMI would like to thank both the Law Society’s Pro Bono Services Office and BradellBrothers for their time and excellent presentations which were very helpful for caregivers.

A free talk on services and support programmes available to caregivers of persons with mental illness will be held on 2nd March 2013, Saturday, from 2pm to 4.30pm at Bukit Batok East Community Club.

Dr Ang Yong Guan (Consultant Psychiatrist, Paragon Medical), will be giving a talk on the above on Saturday, 3 November 2012, 3.30pm to 5.30pm at MND Auditorium, 5 Maxwell Road, MND Building Annex A, S069110 (near Tanjong Pagar MRT, above Amoy Food Centre)

Caregivers Alliance Limited (CAL), in collaboration with Hougang Care Centre, will be organising a talk for caregivers by Dr Ang Yong Guan titled ““Medication Update: Impact on Positive and Negative Symptoms including Anosognosia”.  Anosognosia  is a condition in which a person who suffers disability seems unaware of the existence of his or her disability. It is conducted in both English and Mandarin.
