Dear Members, Readers and Fellow Caregivers,
The objective of this study is to obtain the opinions of family caregivers like you on your experiences looking after a loved one who is affected with schizophrenia. The information will help in designing systematic support for family caregivers. Family caregivers are crucial to the well-being and medical care of their loved ones. It is very important to listen directly to family caregivers about your strengths as well as your needs; for example, on what kind of help or assistance you need to provide the caring. If you are a family caregiver and your loved one has schizophrenia, you are invited to participate in the study. No one else can speak about your experience except yourself and your experience as a family caregiver is invaluable in this study.
The study is conducted by Professor Stella R. Quah (Adjunct Professor, Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School). If you accept this invitation all you need to do is to have one interview with Prof Quah. She will arrange the interview with you at a time and place of your convenience. The interview may take between 45 to 90 minutes and it is strictly confidential. No names or contact information will be revealed to anyone or be reported in the study. The study will involve approximately 60 family caregivers and it is expected to be completed in one year.
As the interview is a conversation about your experiences, there is no financial reward or incentive to participate and no direct benefit to you by participating in this research. However, the knowledge gained from the study will benefit the public in the future. We expect that the findings of the study will help in designing systematic support for family caregivers. Please volunteer your participation by sending an email to CAMI contact@cami.org.sg or through telephone number 6782 9371 if you are agreeable to participate. Thank You!
